Park and Ride
A successful Park and Ride scheme offers the travelling public a suitable alternative to in-town parking. These are usually located on the main routes into the town and must be prominently signed. The cost of Park & Ride should be competitive compared with town centre car parks, particularly for all day parking, and the ride service must be frequent. Park and Ride routes should also be integrated with railway stations and other major public transport interchanges to offer travellers a viable alternative to driving and parking in the centre.
The benefit of a Park and Ride scheme is that it helps to alleviate car-parking pressures in the town centre by promoting commuter and shopper parking on edge-of-town and out-of-town sites.
