Street Pastors & Safe Havens

In some towns and cities church and faith groups and the local Youth Service provide personnel and in some cases places of safety for vulnerable people after dark. In most cases the individuals involved undertake some training and work closely with the Police and licensees. The idea is that after a few drinks, or one drink too many, some people might need someone to talk to, or a cup of coffee, help to get home, or sanctuary from something that is ‘kicking off’. By providing a safe shoulder to lean on, or a safe haven these community initiatives can reduce the risks resulting from reduced inhibitions brought on by alcohol or drugs. A good place to start making enquiries might be your local Churches Together group or the Police.
